Biography

Initially trained as a conservation biologist, Bruce received his Ph.D. from the Department of City and Regional Planning at U.C. Berkeley in May, 2004. His dissertation examined the difficulties in coordinating scientific involvement in the construction of a multi-species habitat conservation planning on the periphery of fast-growing urban areas in central and southern California. He is currently working on a study of the response of human and natural communities to wildfire at the urban-wildlands interface.
