The movie on Smart growth was very informing for me. Even though I grew up in Northern Vermont, I did not experience the issues that the video portrayed. Part of it is because although New England is a rather small area, it's still not the same everywhere. I realized that was a very obvious thing. But there are still so many areas in New England that are way under developed. My family practically live in the wood with our closest neighbor being two miles away. There were never any new development going on in town that needed the community's input that I ever learned about. And towns like this are not abnormal in northern states of New England. I don't know if one day they are all going to be developed into any typical American town and lose their beauty. I hope if there is going to be developments going on, the community will be able to participate in it though.
Our card storming session was fun. I always heard of GM Food being bad for you. But I learned that they are actually not, or not yet determined to be bad at least. I guess there are tons of myths out there about foods and other products nowadays that it's really hard for consumers to really make wise choices regarding what they want and don't want to buy. I wonder if it is going to get worse to a point where we actually have to go back to farming our own produce and live stocks for us to not be paranoid of what we eat.
