Your observation on large farms reminded me of a conversation an NPR journalist had with John Hickenlooper the other day. He said that a lot of the provisions in Trump's budget would make cuts to the Department of Agriculture and are intended to lower our already low commodity prices. Doing so would put a lot of farmer's out of business because they rely heavily on their goods being exported at a reasonable price. Ironically, the people that are going to feel the grunt of these cuts to the DOA are the same people that voted for Trump. So I imagine that some of the same benefits we'd stand to gain by decentralizing the energy system stand to be gained by decentralizing the food system.
